Roll Journal Milling Machine
This roll journal portal milling machine was fitted with two new headstocks with 71 kW drive power at a maximum speed of 2,400 rpm each. These headstocks each feature two work spindles, which are positioned at a 90° angle and can be switched on individually. The very large work spindles accommodate tools via a SK 60 steep taper. This machines works with ideal speed and torque characteristics, which allows for a milling process at high torque, as well as drilling at high rotational speed. When it came to designing the headstock, we took in account all the criteria for a high torque and rotational speed. Another top priority was a design that is easy to maintain and only features a small number of transmission components. Various factors, such as smooth running, torsional rigidity, shock absorption and steady temperature, lead to high quality, cost-efficient results. In addition to the new headstocks, the total retrofit of the guidance system, drives, clamping devices and dividing attachments, weight compensation and CNC control system. All feed axes are free of play because of their structurally redesigned components. A special measuring system allows for the roller to be placed exactly on the roller blocks via a CNC axis. We modernized this machine by retrofitting it and exchanged old components for new ones. As a result, it is now highly efficient.
